I don't think we've talked about it before, but the method that I know is pointing at each of the three joints of the fingers with the thumb, with one hand for the one's place and the other hand for the dozen's place.

I can *theoretically* count much higher in ternary (one place per finger, 10 places, 3^10) but ternary is harder for me to keep track of.
